Resistance
2025, Tempera and watercolors on paper, 118×100 cm
This work asks whether thorns — remnants of the past, my “armored” protection forged through life in Russia — can transform into something beautiful.

Can resistance evolve from an automatic, survival-driven reaction into a conscious, deliberate choice, guiding the direction of one’s struggle? The word résistance woven into the plant reflects how traumatic experiences leave not only scars and thorns but also the capacity to stand firm, recognize oneself, and act with awareness.

Humanity need not wait for evolution to change; transformation is available to an open mind.

The color and texture of the thorns convey a tense, vital energy breaking through obstacles. The work visually and conceptually embodies the idea that resistance is not merely conflict, but a manifestation of inner vitality, conscious strength, and the gentle, intentional processing of past wounds — a reflection of human and transhuman potential, in dialogue with the poetic vision of Cosmism.
